CBD Effectiveness and the Entourage Effect

CBD Health Benefits are Magnified Greatly When Combined With as Many of the Cannabinoids Retained in Full Spectrum Hemp CBD Concentrate as Possible. This Fact has Been Proven Repeatedly in Peer Reviewed Scientific Studies.

The following is an excerpt taken from an article by Project CBD – a great independent source that compiles CBD research and information...

“Several scientific studies report that pure, single-molecule CBD, while possibly effective at high doses in preclinical tests, has a much tighter therapeutic window and is much less potent compared to a whole plant CBD-rich concentrate. Moreover, whether synthesized in a lab or heavily refined from industrial hemp paste, pure CBD isolates lack the full array of phytocannabinoids and medicinal terpenes found in whole plant CBD-rich cannabis, which includes hundreds of biologically active components. These constituents interact with CBD and THC to create what scientists refer to as an “entourage” or “ensemble” effect, so that the therapeutic impact of the whole plant is greater than the sum of its parts.

It’s not that single-molecule CBD won’t work — pure CBD can be helpful in certain cases, as clinical trials with epidiolex have shown. But whole plant CBD-rich oil has a much wider therapeutic window than a CBD isolate. This was demonstrated in a 2015 preclinical experiment by Israeli scientists who found that single-molecule CBD required a much higher dose to be effective as an anti-inflammatory and an analgesic compared to a whole plant CBD-rich oil extract. Moreover, if one missed the mark slightly, either too low or too high, then the CBD isolate had little impact on pain and inflammation — unlike the full spectrum CBD-rich oil, which was effective at a much lower, and broader, dosage range. “The therapeutic synergy observed with plant extracts results in the requirement for a lower amount of active components, with consequent reduced adverse effects,” the Israeli researchers concluded.”

How to identify whole-plant and full-spectrum CBD products - The following important information is here to help guide you in how to select the most beneficial “whole plant” or “full-spectrum” CBD products for maximizing your best possible health outcome...

  • Importance of Hemp-Derived Oil as the Base Carrier – The base oil is not the CBD extract, but the majority of the oil in the bottle that carries the extract in it. Several flavinoids and terpenes are preserved in organic cold pressed whole hemp seed oil extracts. In fact, a large amount of another safe cannabinoid called BPC is found in it. These compounds all contribute more to the health magnifying entourage effect and increase the overall effectiveness. Commonly used base oils like coconut oil, and olive oil, and worse yet – synthesized MTC oil derived from coconut oil - are very inferior in this regard. In some cases they can even be unhealthy. They are also not necessarily provable in 100% organic quality, or domestically made.

  • Mass Market Confusion – All of this is extremely important to know when you weed through the seeming endless choices of CBD products cropping up all over the internet.

  • Many CBD oils are actively marketed as being “full-spectrum” when they are in fact NOT. Unfortunately it's going to be up to the buyer to investigate the claims before wisely choosing.

  • About THC Free Isolates – Whenever you see the claim of THC Free, you are presented with CBD-only single-molecule Isolate. All true THC free oil is called CBD Isolate because the CBD is isolated away and all the other cannabinoids and compounds in the hemp, such as THC, CBDA, CBDC, BPC terpenes, and flavinoids etc.. They have been removed. We investigated into many CBD oils commercially available that were found being boldly advertised as both THC Free and Full Spectrum. This claim is an untrue and impossible contradiction. CBD Isolate alone is still a decent health supplement and ideal for use with extreme drug test concerns, but effective dosage is much harder to pinpoint and the entourage effect is generally lost. Hempworx has THC Free available also, however it is superior because of the cold pressed organic hemp oil as a base carrier for the CBD isolate. A large amount of terpenes, flavinoids, and a large amount of another safe legal cannabinoid called BPC are still present in it. This means you still get as much entourage effect as possible and more effective than other isolates. Dosage size is then easier not to miss.

  • Identify True Full Spectrum Oil – Not sound repetative, but true full spectrum oil can never be called THC Free. It is not possible to eliminate 100% of the THC and still save all of the other compounds found in the hemp. In contrast, the highest quality full spectrum oil will contain a legal trace amount of THC. The Federal Legal Limit is under .3%. It's enough to add to the health benefits such as enhanced pain relief, and helps to magnify the health effects of the CBD. The amount of THC is legal and not near enough to make someone high or have any psychoactive effects. In addition to this trace THC, so many additional cannabinoids and other entourage compounds are retained in this type of oil. The difference between THC Free and Full Spectrum is like night and day. Over 185 beneficial compounds exist in 100% hemp-derived full-spectrum oils of the highest quality. No full-spectrum CBD oil available on the market that we scrutinized contained more diversity of compounds, terpenes, and flavinoids; as well as vitamins, minerals, and omega 3 proteins than from HempWorx. We attribute this mainly to their manufacturing processes. They use only domestically grown FDA Certified organic, non-GMO hemp to make both their full spectrum extracts and for their hemp seed carrier oil. They are also the only company that uses a patented vacuum sealing harvest system to lock the nutrients-inside the mature plants immediately in under four minutes after harvest. This technique preserves the most nutrient value in the industry by fresh sealing the plant material and eliminating decay, mold, germs, and pests. The logical conclusion is that if you lock-in the most nutrient value in the plant, then the oil made from it will also wind up being the most nutrient rich. The other half of the equation involves how the oil is extracted.

Important Differences in the way CBD is Extracted – The extraction method is a major key to certifying any CBD product's claims. There are three primary ways that CBD is extracted from the hemp plant. One method is appealing to CBD sellers because it is very inexpensive to do, but should not be recommended for health because it uses chemical contaminants.

  • Unsafe Chemical Extractions - Common due to it's low expense and high speed. The technique is appealing to some producers because it does allow small batch 'bathtub gin' type CBD to be produced by individuals. The result is chemical tainted, inconsistent, and also produces only limited CBD isolates. Always find out the extraction method and skip over any right way that use ethanol or other chemicals. Also beware of any company that hides their sources and methods. Beware of any small batch private label CBD oil and ask the right questions.

  • CO2 Safe Extraction is Key – The other two main extraction methods use harmless CO2 gas. Both of the CO2 methods of getting CBD from the hemp material are safe for health, are harmless, and leave no traces. Of the two, one is really more important than the other. The health promoting entourage-effect compounds in addition to the CBD are saved through this method.

  • Subcritical CO2 Cold Extraction – This is the slowest but most thorough process invented for drawing out the full spectrum of cannabinoids and other compounds from the hemp. This process is skipped by nearly all CBD oil producers because is greatly slows down production time and is much more costly to do. When healthiness is the true #1 goal, there is no more thorough a method than this subcritical CO2 process to create the ultimate entourage effect for health. The most complete number of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavinoids are saved for you giving the best entourage effect.

  • Supercritical CO2 Hot Extraction – Is also fast and safe. The result is a large amount of clean CBD but it is Isolate. This is still a great method for quickly drawing out a lot clean pure CBD. The only problem is that the entourage effect gained by all those other compounds is lost. Most marketed CBD oils advertised as full spectrum are made this way because it is less costly, faster, and makes more product. Most consumers have no idea that this oil is not true full spectrum, but unfortunately are often told it is in the advertising and product descriptions. All high priced oil sold in official dispensaries is made in this way at this time. One of the main points of the Project CBD reference article quoted above is their attempt to advocate changing that fact. The reason being that true full spectrum oil is far more healthy and even more importantly - more effective.

  • Multicritical CO2 Extraction – This is really a combination of the above two methods or possibly even up to four temperature extractions done separately. The different extracts can then be dealt with separately or mixed back together to form an even more complete cocktail of full spectrum extract. The combination of subcritical and supercritical is best overall for legal CBD because THC content is minimal and the subcritical method includes all those other compounds. Hempworx uses a combination drawn from the very same plant to maximize the mixture just right and preserve the natural marriage of the compounds found in the same plant. It will contain below legal limit THC, high amounts of CBD and as many additional natural hemp health compounds as possible. To close, always ask about the extraction methods used and be critical of the ingredients shown on the product labels.

  • Laboratory Testing and Certification – Only trust a producer who performs independent laboratory tests on every batch for consistency, chemicals, potency, and germ-free quality. The production facility should be routinely inspected for health and safety. Every batch should be tested to guarantee you are getting the same stable and safe product.

  • Arm Yourself with These Questions -

  • Is the product truly 100% organic, non-GMO, and chemical free?

  • Are there non hemp-derived fillers like synthesized MTC oil, or low shelf-life coconut or olive oil that is also not organically grown?

  • Are the non-hemp fillers used adding to your health outcome and the entourage effect like natural cold pressed organic hemp seed oil does?

  • Do they hide the sources of their hemp or any other ingredients? Do they share their ingredients in an honest way?

  • Will they tell you the extraction method for their CBD?

  • Is is 100% made in America where all the ingredients and processes can be verified for quality?

  • Do they perform confirmed lab tests and on every batch and present them to the public to read?
